Central Canada Barren Ground Caribou
World Class Caribou Hunts in the Northwest Territories , Canada .
Come and hunt for trophy central barren ground caribou at a wilderness lodge in Canada 's Northwest Territories . This 5 Star lodge is located approximately 150 miles northeast of Yellowknife and is situated on a huge lake that is 100 miles long. This is a distinct advantage as with so much territory available you can always find caribou on this lake. Many of the other caribou lodges are situated on much smaller lakes and do not have this luxury, if the caribou aren't there you are simply out of luck.
I have personally guided and hunted at this lodge for several seasons and can attest to the great hunting and services provided. The success rate is extremely high and a second caribou is available for those of you that wish to take two bulls. Wolf, wolverine, ptarmigan and world class fishing for huge lake trout and arctic grayling are also available as long as you purchase the licences.
Hunting starts at the end of August and carries on into early October, when freeze-up forces an end to the season. This lodge actually runs one week later than most of the northern caribou outfitters, which typically close down after the third week of September. Although the weather can be a bit nasty during the last week, the caribou hunting is fantastic as the bulls are heading into the rut.
The lodge is beautifully situated on a sandy glacial esker overlooking the lake. Hunters return at the end of a day to a hot shower and a private cabin, followed by a hearty meal and a relaxing evening in the fully licenced lounge. If you need to communicate with the outside world both satellite internet services and a satellite phone are available.
This camp has excellent equipment and very experienced guides. Hunters annually take record book bulls with rifle, muzzleloader and archery equipment. |
