One of North America 's Best Kept Secrets for Trophy Black Bear.
The Northwest Territories is well known for its fantastic big game hunting for species such as Dall Sheep, Alaska/Yukon Moose and Central Barren Ground Caribou. Few know that it offers some of the finest spring black bear hunting in North America . The bears are big and bold and virtually un-hunted. This outfitter is the only outfitter in the Northwest Territories that currently offers spring black bear hunts.
Over the last few years, with only a handful of hunters taken each year, some impressive bears squaring over seven feet and sporting skulls scoring 20 plus have been taken by spot and stalk. The outfitter has recently received permission to use baits, the first ever in the NWT. These hunts offer a unique opportunity to hunt wilderness bears by both spot and stalk and the use of bait .....something few outfitters offer anywhere.
Hunts are conducted from mid-May to mid-June. The hunting area is a three hour drive south of Yellowknife off of the Mackenzie Hwy. You will stay at a trapper's cabin and be hunting until well after midnight as the spring days are long in the far north.
You have the option of using rifle, muzzleloader or archery equipment. The hunts include accommodations, travel and meals from Yellowknife . Don't miss your chance to hunt this wilderness area for trophy black bears with the most incredibly long, silky fur you will ever find. You will also be treated to the sight of herds of wild wood bison as the hunting area is near the Mackenzie Bison Sanctuary.
The outfitter limits his bookings to no more than a dozen hunters per season.

One of North America’s Top Areas for Huge Black Bear
The province of Manitoba offers some of the finest black bear hunting in North America. Manitoba is considered one of the three top locations for big black bear and the area around Riding Mountain National Park has the highest density of black bears in North America. The genetics in the area produce big bodied bears with big skulls.
These all inclusive black bear hunts are conducted in an area adjacent to Riding Mountain National Park. Well established baits will maximize your chances to harvest one of the big bears this area is famous for. Both spring and fall hunts are available. Record book bears, weighing in excess of 500 pounds, are taken every year. If that alone wasn’t a good enough reason to hunt black bear here, you also have a 40% chance that the bear you harvest will be colored.
Hunters stay at a comfortable mobile home on a farm and can expect excellent home cooked meals. An experienced guide will take you to your stand in the early afternoon and return to pick you up at dark. If you have harvested your bear it will be taken back to the farm, where it will be skinned and the hide frozen for the trip home. Hunters have the option of contracting the services of an excellent local taxidermist noted for specializing in black bears mounts.
You have the option of using rifle, muzzleloader or archery equipment and hunters take bears that meet the entry requirements for Pope and Young, Longhunter and Boone & Crockett every year.
